Drottningholm Palace

Visit the King

Drottningholm Palace is included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This is the best-preserved royal palace in Sweden, built in the 17th century.

Together with the exotic building of the Chinese Pavilion, the palace theater and the luxurious park, the palace complex forms a unique integral composition.

The castle was built in the French style by the architect Nicodemus Tessin senior, commissioned by Queen Hedwiga Eleanor. Since then, many royals have left their mark on it.

The royal family moved to Drottningholm in 1981. Today, the palace is the permanent residence of the king and queen. They occupy rooms in the southern part, however, most of the palace and park are open to visitors all year round.
